REVIEW
The Fantasticks

There is nothing I can say about the book or the score- we know it’s good; the show has been running continuously for decades. What I can comment on is the direction (great staging), which was expertly undertaken, and the performances, which were-IMHO-broadway caliber. I kind of forgot that I was in a black box theatre with precious few set pieces and just allowed myself to get swept up in the story. The singing easily filled the space and the acting exceeded it. Extra kudos to S. Khatibi who played to most expressive “mute” I have ever seen. Her physicality blew me away but did not overpower the others’ performances. Not a weak link in this performance chain. Did I mention the confetti?
