A video document cast and hammered into existence in the forge of Hollywood’s live comedy circuit, and heated by improv’s hottest new talent, The Laughing Matter features the future sitcom scions, and movie stars who will shape your entertainment for years to come. Follow the struggle of Freedom Snatch (five of the funniest) locked in a battle for long form improvised comedy’s greatest title: Cage Match Champions. Teams compete for laughs and votes in the crowded improv theaters including IO West and Upright Citizens Brigade, made famous by their alumni on SNL, Comedy Central, & HBO.
This documentary is a purely local effort, exploring the unique settings and characters found only in LA. These teams of performers provoke, push, and inspire each other to fight for the dream, performing each show as if it’s their last.
